Harvard Business Review published an article in 2009 suggesting that sustainability is the key driver to innovation. This message is probably at the height of its intensity today.
Doing business with a conscience is a complicated journey that enterprises are thrusted into today as the market shifts towards a focus on transparency and accountability. Production based industries are pinched by both volatile commodity prices and environmental taxes that are increasing; like in Singapore. Commerical leaders are reiterating plans to win more customers by being more open to not just what they sell but how they produce the goods; without taxing existing infrastructures and systems or spending funds to create new ones. Innovating is no longer an option but essential for enterprises to stay ahead.
Last week, as part of SWITCH and Singapore Fintech Festival; the 2 largest innovation events in Singapore which drew over 60,000 innovators and decision makers in 2021, PALO IT Singapore launched 3 masterclasses with the aim to help enterprises embrace sustainable innovation culture early and accelerate projects of this nature.
The 3 classes; Circular Design Thinking, Sustainability Leadership and NFT Business Strategies, were launched as part of PALO Innovillage experience; a lab crawl that showcases fresh thinking to some of today's biggest climate, health and finance industries' challenges.
Building circularity into product design
The masterclass on Circular Design was created with a mission to help enterprises explore the concept of reusing, recycling and recovering materials in production and consumption processes through role playing and sharing successful examples across industries.
Creating lasting and effective sustainability plans
Sustainability leadership For Impactful Change deconstructs the complexities involved in developing a sustainability agenda in an organization through a step by step process. Attendees picked up tools and drafted a plan to galvanise change agents while applying systemic thinking to re-evaluate or create their sustainability vision and assessed where they are on the journey.
Engineering NFT business strategies
The NFT business strategy class explored the components and mechanics of getting NFT projects off the ground and succeed in the wild. Attendees learnt how to build an audience, created smart contracts on sustainable blockchains and the parts essential to launch a minting portal.
"Fueling innovations for good and growth doesn't happen by chance. It's an intentional, well-calibrated and iterative process that needs a 'village' of committed partners to pull together. Our goal with the masterclasses is to show the way and inspire the ecosystem to join us. We are here to help enterprises who are embarking on this journey succeed in this area and look forward to partner others to organize more sessions in the near future," said Managing Director, PALO IT Singapore Vincent Desclaux.
